The quintessential whiskey cocktail — simple, strong, and timeless.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Bourbon (or Rye Whiskey)
  • 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
  • 1 sugar cube (or ½ oz simple syrup)
  • Orange peel

Instructions

  1. Place the sugar cube in a rocks glass and saturate with bitters.
  2. Add a splash of water and muddle until dissolved.
  3. Add bourbon and stir.
  4. Add one large ice cube.
  5. Express an orange peel over the glass and drop it in.

Tips

  • Use a large ice cube to slow dilution.
  • Rye whiskey gives a spicier profile; bourbon is smoother and sweeter.
