Mojito
Origin
Cuban folk cocktail with no single inventor; antecedents trace to 16th-century Caribbean tafia drinks (the 'Draque'). Modernized at La Bodeguita del Medio in Havana from 1942, popularized worldwide by association with Hemingway.

Ingredients
- 2 oz White Rum
- 1 oz fresh Lime juice
- ¾ oz Simple Syrup
- 6–8 fresh Mint leaves
- Soda Water
Instructions
- Gently muddle mint leaves with simple syrup in a tall glass.
- Add lime juice and rum.
- Fill with ice and top with soda water.
- Stir gently to combine.
- Garnish with a sprig of mint.
Tips
- Don't over-muddle the mint — you want to release oils, not shred the leaves.
- Use crushed ice for a more authentic texture.
