Created as a welcome cocktail at the Aviary Bar of the new Kuala Lumpur Hilton; long credited to anonymous staff but recent reporting names hotel beverage manager Jeffrey Ong. First printed in John J. Poister's 1989 New American Bartender's Guide, which gave 1978 as the date.
A tiki cocktail with a bitter edge — Campari meets tropical rum.
Ingredients
- 1½ oz Dark Rum
- ¾ oz Campari
- 1½ oz Pineapple Juice
- ½ oz fresh Lime juice
- ½ oz Simple Syrup
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice.
- Shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds.
- Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.
- Garnish with a pineapple wedge.
