Division Bell
CoupeShake
Origin
A mezcal-forward sour with Aperol and maraschino — bittersweet and a little smoky.
Ingredients
- 1.5 oz Mezcal
- 0.75 oz Aperol
- 0.5 oz Maraschino Liqueur
- 0.75 oz fresh Lime juice
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice.
- Shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds.
- Fine-strain into a chilled coupe glass.
- Garnish with a grapefruit twist, optional.
Tips
- Maraschino is sweet and aromatic — the half-ounce here is intentional.
- A grassy mezcal lets the Aperol read; a heavily smoked one will take over.
Notes
Phil Ward built the Division Bell at Mayahuel in NYC in 2008, layering mezcal over the Last Word's herbal-and-citrus backbone.
