Origin
Toby Cecchini · The Odeon, New York · 1988
Cecchini's 1988 Odeon recipe (with Melissa Huffsmith-Roth), using Absolut Citron, Cointreau, fresh lime and cranberry, became the canonical version. Cheryl Cook at The Strand, South Beach (c. 1985-87) has a strong prior claim to the basic concept.
A stylish, citrus-forward vodka cocktail with a rosy hue.
Ingredients
- 1½ oz Vodka (citrus-flavored works well)
- 1 oz Triple Sec
- ½ oz Cranberry Juice
- ½ oz fresh Lime juice
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice.
- Shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds.
- Strain into a chilled martini glass.
- Garnish with a lime wheel or orange twist.
Tips
- Use just enough cranberry for color — too much overpowers the drink.
- Fresh lime juice is essential.
