Prohibition-era cocktail first credited in print to Frank Meier of the Ritz Paris in the 1929 Cocktails de Paris. A competing 1929 newspaper account credits American socialite Margaret 'Molly' Brown; both place the drink in Paris.
A Prohibition-era gin sour sweetened with honey — smooth and golden.
Ingredients
- 2 oz Gin
- ¾ oz fresh Lemon juice
- ¾ oz Honey Syrup
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice.
- Shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds.
- Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
- Garnish with a lemon twist.
Tips
- Make honey syrup by mixing equal parts honey and warm water.
- The name is 1920s slang for "the best."
